Scales

Scales

To simplify and centralize the scales used in surveys, Effect IO has a centralized scales features.

When a scales is defined here, you will be able to reuse it across all surveys in your tenant installation.

To get started, click the "Add new" button in top right corner.

Both if you create new scale, or edit an existing scale, you will be presented with the scales wizard

1: Name

For each of the system languages that are set up for your tenant, the sale name must be assigned.

For scale names, we recommend that you give them a self-explanatory name. For instance using the end-scales and number of points.

2: Measurement

This sets the type of measurement for the scale. A technical setting which currently isn't utilized in Effect IO, but we plan to use later on.

For more details on setting correct measurement type, see this article https://www.kdnuggets.com/2015/08/statistics-understanding-levels-measurement.html

3: Scale items

Here the actual content of the scale is defined. Each scale item has the following settings

  1. Scale item labels: Shown as labels to answer options in the survey (see end of this article for example). Is set for each language available.
  2. Scale item value: A numerical value that will be used in data exports and in calculating averages for scale (if needed).

Scale in survey example

With the above example, the scale will look like this when applied to a question block/row
